Al Aashiqeen Adhan Competition Format
The Al Aashiqeen Adhan Competition will take place over two days on the 5th and 6th of October 2024, featuring 30 contestants competing for top honors. The competition will culminate in a final round where the top 5 contestants will vie for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
Day 1: Preliminary Rounds
- Date & Time: October 5th, 2024, from 13:30 until Maghrib (~4 hours).
- Number of Contestants: 30 participants.
- Format:
- Each contestant will perform the adhan live before a panel of judges.
- Time Limit: Each contestant will have 2-3 minutes to perform the adhan.
- Scoring: Contestants will be evaluated on a point-based system (details below).
- Duration per Contestant: Approximately 6-8 minutes, including setup and scoring feedback.
- Objective: The top 15 contestants with the highest scores will proceed to Day 2.
Day 2: Semi-Finals & Finals
- Date & Time: October 6th, 2024, from 13:30 until Maghrib (~4 hours).
- Semi-Finals:
- The top 15 contestants from Day 1 will compete.
- Time Limit: 2-3 minutes per contestant.
- The top 5 contestants will advance to the finals.
- Duration per Contestant: Approximately 6-8 minutes, including scoring feedback.
- Finals:
- The top 5 finalists will compete for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
- Each finalist will perform the adhan one last time during the final 90 minutes of the event.

Each contestant will be scored based on the following criteria, with a total of 100 points available:
- Voice Quality (30 points):
- Clarity and resonance of the voice.
- Smoothness and tone appropriate for the adhan.
- Overall appeal and beauty of the vocal delivery.
- Vocal Control and Pitch (25 points):
- Ability to maintain consistent pitch and tone throughout the adhan.
- Control over breath, ensuring smooth transitions between phrases.
- Avoidance of vocal strain or abrupt changes in tone.
- Pronunciation and Enunciation (20 points):
- Accurate pronunciation of Arabic words, with a focus on correct articulation.
- Clear enunciation of every phrase and word in the adhan.
- Spiritual Delivery (15 points):
- Ability to convey the spiritual and emotional depth of the adhan.
- Capturing the reverence and solemnity of the call to prayer.
- Overall Performance (10 points):
- The contestant's poise, presentation, and connection with the audience and judges.
- General adherence to the time limit and overall performance quality.
Judges will provide feedback to contestants to help them improve after their performances, fostering growth and encouragement.
Awards:
The top three finalists will receive special recognition and awards based on their cumulative scores from both rounds.
This format ensures that all participants are evaluated fairly, with a strong focus on the spiritual and technical aspects of the adhan. The finals on October 6th will showcase the best talents, making for an inspiring and uplifting event.
