3. How to perform Ghusl (Major Ablution)

Ghusl (Major Ablution):

  • Definition: Ghusl is a full-body ritual purification, involving washing the entire body with water. It is more comprehensive than wudu.
  • Purpose: Ghusl is performed to cleanse the body from major impurities and to enter a state of spiritual purity.
  • When Required:
    • After marital relations or seminal discharge (Janabah).
    • After menstruation (for women).
    • After post-natal bleeding (Nifas).
    • Before the Friday prayer (Jumu'ah) or Eid prayers (recommended but not obligatory).
    • Upon embracing Islam.
  • Steps: Ghusl involves making the intention, washing the private parts, performing wudu, and then washing the entire body, ensuring water reaches every part.
